Overview
The Community Living Department of the Greater Vancouver Community Services Society operates a number of homes for adults with developmental disabilities. The homes are established to provide long term support to each of the individuals, many of whom are former residents of Woodlands School.

The homes are located in the municipalities of Vancouver, North Vancouver and Richmond.

Key Benefits
The homes are family-sized, accommodating 4 to 6 adults. With service being offered in the three different municipalities, every attempt is made to accommodate the families of the resident by establishing the resident in a neighbourhood close to where the family of the resident lives.

  • Each home is staffed and organized to meet the particular, individual needs of the people who live there. The objective is to assist each individual to achieve their potential to the best of their ability.
  • Along with the staff who are primarily responsible for ensuring that the individual's daily needs are met, other professionals such as doctors, psychologists, and CLBC facilitators, as well as the resident's family and friends are involved in the resident's progress and development.
  • GVCSS Community Living staff are proud to be assisting in integrating people with disabilities into the community through the effectiveness of group home living.

Compliance to the CCFA
The homes are licensed under the Community Care Facility Act and comply with health and staffing standards stipulated by the Ministry for Children and Family Development.

Future Ventures
Greater Vancouver Community Services Society, Community Living Division is continually assimilating and planning for new opportunities to further assist in the care and well being of persons with developmental disabilities.
